National Thematic Workshop on Corrections – convened as a first step in addressing the Framework priority of Responding to Offender-Related Issues.

  • Held – June 16-17, 2005
  • Hosted by Correctional Service Canada
  • Twenty-two participants from 9 jurisdictions, representative of managers, treatment specialists, and correctional staff.
  • Objectives:

to review the issues and challenges related to treating substance abuse within the Canadian adult offender population both within custody and those subject to community supervision;

to set priorities and directions for treating substance abuse within the Canadian adult offender population within custody and those subject to community supervision;

to network and learn about the different approaches and initiatives used across jurisdictions -- federal, provincial and territorial.
